The Homecoming.

Thu Feb 14, 2008, 10:02 PM
Before I forget, here's that journal I promised. Let me just try to catch all of you up to speed that don't read my Myspace blog.

Last year...was horrible for me. Everything was going alright until around August. My mom thought she had met the man that she'd been waiting her whole life to find except he was in Canada. So of course she wanted to move up there to live the rest of her life with him. The only reason I tagged along was because I was told I had a graphic design job waiting for me when I got there. So I gave up everything; a decent place to stay, my job, my car, my friends, my family, and everyone and everything else I'm leaving out. We shipped everything we wanted up there(cost around $900) and put his address on there, but my mom's name on everything. I had a whopping $5,000 in my bank account since I'd been saving up for a car. Since my mom had been sick the previous year and hadn't had a job, I had to spend that for us to get to Canada. We were also told by this guy up there that we didn't need any sort of paperwork or anything just to get there and that we'd worry about all that later. So everything was going fine until we got to the border. We had a bunch of stuff in the rental car like two computers, a guitar, and a sewing machine. The border patrol took that as a sign that we were trying to work in Canada, so we had to dump our shit in some storage place in Montana just to gain access into Canada. Then we were only allowed to be there a month. Not only that, but after I showed up to this graphic design job(at a newspaper...basically a job I'd always wanted), I couldn't work. I didn't have whatever paperwork I needed(I can't remember the specific one right now), so I spent all day doing nothing. We spent that entire month just sitting at this guy's house since he didn't have a car and we couldn't work. So since we couldn't find jobs since we couldn't work, we had to go back to the U.S. Our stuff that we shipped got stuck in customs as they wondered why we shipped so much stuff for a month long stay, so it all had to back to Texas. We found out some friends of my mom would take us in in California, so we decided to go there. The guy in Canada decided we had to pay for half the rental car and gas to get to California(and we basically paid for everything why we stayed with him), so our funds were getting pretty low.

After he dropped us off in California with mom's friends, he drove back to Canada...and dumped my mom via email. We haven't heard anything from him since. Mom wound up getting a job at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and I got one at Cost Plus a few weeks later. The problem was we weren't full-time. I was only getting like 15-20 hours and mom was only getting around 30. I was only making $8/hr and she was making $9/hr and we realized that even if we found decent jobs that were paying us $10/hr...we still wouldn't be able to live in a place like California. The people we were staying with said they were fine with us staying with them and not paying anything as we needed to save up for a car and other things, but then a few weeks passed and they decided that they were pissed we always wanted to be on the computer and that their bills were going up. So they just decided we had to leave one day, out of the blue. Oh, and in the meantime, we managed to get all of our stuff that was shipped to customs and then back to Texas. Customs totally trashed everything. A bunch of my CDs and DVDs were smashed and a lot of mom's stuff was wet and looked like it had been thrashed. So we got a rental truck and decided to come back to Texas. We had no where else to go.

So now, here I am, back in Texas. I'm living in the same town and in the same apartment complex I lived in a few months ago. The difference is I'm out $5,000 and now I'm living in a one bedroom apartment with two other people and a dog. I don't even have a room. I live next to the kitchen. Yep, totally sucks but it's better than that shitty three month "vacation." I also had to take the road trip from California to Texas...again. I better not have to do it again in another ten years. I might have to shoot myself if that's the case. I have a job and I'm trying to save up for a car. I'm a meat apprentice at a grocery store. That's the official title. I'm basically trying to get back into drawing, but I'm too tired to do anything usually. I don't sleep well. It's kind of hard when you don't have a door to close or four walls for any sort of privacy. I'm trying to just get drawing and art back into my life anyway. I haven't done it yet, but I hope to start this week or the next sometime.

So yeah, I guess that covers what happened last year. My life is still pretty messed up right now. I don't really know what to do about that though, but I do know I miss being artistic and I hope I can get around to having it in my life again. I've got some laundry to finish. So I'll see you around.
